Segerstrom Center for the Arts

The Julianne and George Argyros Plaza Fountain serves as a welcoming and celebratory living gesture, located at the Segerstrom Arts complex’s vehicular arrival space. Its design originated from the architect, Michael Maltzan, who sought a form in water akin to that of an Alexander Calder ‘stabile’ sculpture, and which would harmonize with the ‘Firebird’ sculpture in the background. To deliver the design, Fluidity researched jets which could maintain a linear coherence throughout their large scales, and achieve a pure, foamy-white character. This led to custom-fabricated nozzles. The water feature was successfully designed, engineered and built in a tight time frame, and to a fixed budget.
