Washington University

Twin fountains bracket the University’s East entrance in the center of the campus’ refreshed landscape, whose Michael Vergason-designed composition connects the vision, purposefulness and movement of its central axis with a strong, fixed sense of place. The fountains encourage visitors to stop and appreciate the scene and its moment. The fountains are simple, overflowing square pools with box arrangements of illuminated, small jets quietly generating intriguing wave patterns upon their reflection pool surfaces.
