The Baku, Azerbaijan convention center, designed by Austria-based, COOP HIMMELB(L)AU, includes an auditorium lobby with an interior elevator tower. The tower’s form is veiled in water screens assembled from closely spaced stainless steel ball chains. A membrane pool receives the falls from the ball chains. The veils are slightly angled, activating the space with a formal twist.
